Major Effects of Globalization

Study the 7 events in the table and decide which of the following aspects of globalization the event illustrates: economic, informational, cultural, or political. The first one has been done for you as an example. You have to paste this activity on your blog and compare your answers with FOUR of your classmates. Discuss your finding by asking them about the reason for their decisions. 

 

 

Events

Aspect of globalization

Disneyland, the American theme park, has been set up in Hong Kong, Japan, and France. 

economic

The parts of a car come from all over the world: Germany, Japan, Korea etc. and the car is assembled in the U.S. 

Economic

Businesses are operated with many satellite locations or call centers in other parts of the world to answer questions in another: for example, someone in India answering a call from the U.S. about a product or service. 

Informational

The creation of regional forums such as the European Union, Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC), and international organization such as the World Trade Organization and the World Health Organization. 

These international forums and organizations have new rules and agreements for participating countries to follow.  

Political

The spread of language, products, and customs as people are closely connected.  

Cultural

Franchises for McDonald's hamburgers, Pizza Hut, Burger King, KFC, and others carrying U.S. trade names are operating throughout the world 

Economic

Cable News Network (CNN), based in the United States, produces 

24-hour news broadcasts that can be seen by people around the world. 

Informational

  1. I agree with you, I personally found it difficult to know how to differentiate the number three, but I could recognize that although it is business, it is not economical.

  2. I completely agree with you, the topic of globalization is very interesting, sharing our ideas and points of view make us think differently. The different types of globalization can be easy to identify if we relate it correctly.

  3. I agree with point five being a cultural Force but i also think it's part economic, because if the trade if goods.

    1. Totally agree, I think it can be both because once we know something new we want a part of it and I guess an example could be fashion trends.

  6. I agree with your answers, I mean... I think some of the cases can be more than just 1 answer like the case of the parts of the cars because is somthing also informatve, so we can know from where is the car that we use you know, but I personally that everything is informativa and...(all of the other options) because there is where you realize that we live in a hyper globalized world.
